About Us

Welcome to the City of Sanborn! We are defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values our residents hold dear. We take pride in maintaining a wholesome lifestyle, rich in cultural history, along with a deep commitment to the preservation of our environment and a progressive approach to local business.

Sanborn was a railroad village named after an official of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In 1891, the village was incorporated. At one time, Sanborn could boast of having four elevators and many businesses. The City of Sanborn is now a statutory city with a mayor, four council members and a clerk/treasurer.
